Travel leader implements winning QR code campaign

QR Code Campaign

QR Code Campaign

TTA Worldchoice, a worldwide travel trade association, will begin experimenting with QR codes in their latest mobile marketing campaign. The codes will be featured on the consortium’s various marketing materials, which will invite consumers to visit the association’s mobile website. TTA is hoping that their use of QR codes will help catch the attention of tech-savvy travelers and provide them with a more engaging experience overall.

Mobile technology is undoubtedly popular. Recent studies suggest that 51% of Americans will own some sort of mobile device by the end of 2011, many of which will come pre-equipped with QR code scanning applications. This puts QR codes at the epicenter of a new era of marketing specifically targeting the mobile crowd.

The codes have been used by other travel companies, but their existence in the industry is scarce. TTA hopes that their efforts will change that and will solidify their position as innovators in mobile marketing. So far, the codes resolve to the group’s mobile website, where consumers will have the opportunity to enter into a drawing and win almost $2,000 in holiday vouchers.

TTA’s campaign is still in the fledgling stages and the company is not taking any chances with failure. While QR codes have been around for decades now, marketing techniques involving the codes are still relatively untested. The group will keep their use of QR codes limited for the meantime as they assess how well the codes perform in the travel environment.
