Scanbuy, a leading 2D mobile marketing company, has released the latest results on the performance of several QR code campaigns that have formed over the past year. The report, called ScanLife Q3 2011 Trend Report, details how well QR code campaigns have fared and in what fields they have seen the most success. According to the report, the popularity of the codes amongst consumers and businesses has skyrocketed this year due to growing awareness of the codes and more effective marketing strategies.

The report shows that in the third quarter of this year more than 44,000 codes were generated. That number was a scant 17,000 during the same time last year. The 44,000 codes accounted for more than 400,000 scans combined, an increase of 39% from last year’s results. The report notes that nearly all QR code campaigns, even those that were poorly executed, experienced some amount of success.

The majority of codes were linked to some promotional offer, many of which granting discounts to consumers. These codes have proven very popular for mobile consumers as the idea of being rewarded for a simple scan is quite enticing. Scanbuy expects the growth to continue in the future, especially as companies begin to adopt a more aggressive stance on mobile marketing and more consumers get their hands on smart phones and other mobile devices.
