The Camden Riversharks have announced the details of their latest mobile marketing campaign, which will include a custom QR code, as well as a mobile website, and text message ads, all geared toward selling more tickets for the All-Star Game for the Atlantic League which will be played this season at Campbell’s Field.
Advanced Telecom Services developed this unique barcode, which has received the CNN Money magazine recognition of being among the “23 Coolest QR codes”. This is only a part of what is expected to be a growing mobile marketing effort throughout this year and beyond.
The team has been heavily involved in marketing over this channel since before the season was underway, and has been using it since its very first year. This particular technique involves the use of a QR code that has the Riversharks logo worked into its middle.
According to the Riversharks marketing manager, Kristin Segers, the team felt that the recognition by CNN for their barcode was a “great honor”. She went on to say that “We’ve already had over 500 scans of the code and we haven’t even really done much advertising yet.”
When a smartphone user scans this baseball branded QR code, he or she is redirected to a microsite on the mobile web. It was created specifically for smartphone screens and offers many features and functions, primary among which is the sale of more tickets to the Riversharks games.
Currently, it is focused specifically on the Atlantic League All Star game, though the entire schedule for the team is available, and tickets and discount mobile coupons are available for those events, as well.
