QR Codes…a mobile shopper’s international language

Brookstone Stores Using QR Codes

Brookstone, one of the largest specialty retailers in the country, have announced that they will be using QR codes in their New York-area stores. The retailer has high hopes that the codes will help facilitate a more personal relationship with shoppers as they look to provide them with a bevy of digital content. The codes can be found in 30 stores throughout New York state and New Jersey, including locations at the JFK Airport and Brookstone’s Rockefeller Center.

When shoppers find the codes they can scan them with their smart phones. The codes link to a mobile website through which shoppers can find product reviews and videos as well as other information. They will also be able to submit their own reviews via the website, opening up new opportunities for real-time customer interaction.

Brookstone’s incorporation of QR codes is largely inspired by the growing number of businesses that are making use of the barcodes. Not one to be left behind, Brookstone is opting to follow suit, conforming to an emerging standard that many tech-savvy consumers have come to expect.

Studies have shown that consumer use of QR codes is on the rise. Not surprising when one considers how popular smart phones and other mobile devices are becoming. Brookstone is the latest in a long line of retailers to establish a QR campaign aimed at improving their customer’s experience.

The retailer may opt to expand their use of the code in the future, but is focused on their current campaign for the time being.
