Last May, Saudi Arabia announced that it would be launching a number of digital initiatives such as using QR codes instead of the conventional passport visa sticker for several countries. Google Wallet has announced that it will be letting users without near field communication (NFC) technology-enabled phones to use QR code scans to make payments instead.
