Fourteen new KFC and Taco Bell restaurants in the Los Angeles area are now offering customers the opportunity to use mobile payments to pay for their meals more quickly and conveniently.

The platform has been provided by Kuapay to the Great American Chicken Corp (GACC).

GACC is a franchisee that has more than 71 different Yum! Brands locations in the Los Angeles area, alone. Now, 14 of those locations will be making it easier for diners to pay for their purchases through mobile payments. The launch comes on the heels of the completion of the 2 month pilot program that involved the participation of locations in Orange County, Los Angeles County, and the Ontario area. Some of the stores that were involved included UC-Irvine and Loyola Marymount University.

This new mobile payments system is an American first for GACC.

The massive franchisee has 71 different Yum! Brands locations, including KFC, Taco Bell, and Pizza Hut. Kuapay is a leading mobile payments platform which offers features for reward cards, coupons, and loyalty programs, in addition to being able to make a purchase using all major credit cards by way of a smartphone.

Kuapay involves the use of a mobile wallet app, which must first be downloaded into the smartphone. The user can then link any credit or debit card to the wallet. It is currently available for Android, iOS, and Blackberry devices. Once the order is made with the cashier at one of the fast food restaurant locations, the QR code on the smartphone will be scanned by that cashier.

This instantly sends the bill of sale to the smartphone. To complete the mobile payments, shoppers simply need to tap their device against the reader surface. At that point, the transaction has been approved and is complete.

The new mobile payments system is meant to help GACC in the Los Angeles area to keep up with the very latest technology trends. The COO of GACC, Tony Frazier, thinks that the attractive new platform is a perfect complement to the overall movement of the chain toward a trendy tech savvy atmosphere.
