Who among the leading UK retailers has gone mobile?

Mobile Commerce

UK Mobile Commerce
Though most of the most popular online merchants in the United Kingdom have found their way into mobile commerce, surprisingly, there are still 12 of the top retailers in the country who have not yet established any mobile presence whatsoever.

That said, these figures still demonstrate that mobile commerce has definitely made its way into the United Kingdom mainstream throughout the last year, and that the majority of retailers have recognized that mobile offers a significant opportunity for boosting revenues.

A report issued by eConsultancy digital marketers, called the “Conversion Rate Optimization” report, examined the mobile behaviors of the top 50 companies in the country and determined the following:

• 70 percent of the top companies did not have a mobile optimized website
• Amazon, ASDA, and Tesco each had two entries (meaning that there were actually 47 top companies in the study)
• Among the top retailers, 36 had either an app or a mobile optimized site
• 21 of the companies had both a mobile website and an app
• 9 of the retailers had only apps, while 6 of the top companies had only a mobile optimized site but did not have any apps.

Among the businesses that are being applauded with the best mobile marketing efforts so far are:

• Amazon
• Tesco
• TheTrainline
• ASOS
• Argos

All three of the country’s major cinema companies – Vue, Cineworld, and Odeon – have also made their way into the top 50 and have both apps and mobile sites.
