This platform makes use of a webcam to allow consumers to try on virtual clothing, which they can experience through augmented reality-driven digital displays. Zugara believes that the patent awarded to the company is an important victory for the future of the retail industry.
Augmented reality continues to gain ground in retail industry
Augmented reality has been gaining momentum in the retail industry recently. More consumers have access to smart phones and similar mobile devices and are finding augmented reality services useful. Consumers are being exposed to the technology in the form of applications that provide them with information concerning their surroundings. In retail, applications helping consumers find information on certain products are becoming popular, especially if these applications allow consumers to try products before they purchase them.
Zugara platform available on various platforms
Though consumers cannot actually get a feel for the clothes they try on through the Webcam Social Shopper, they will get a conceptual understanding of how the clothes fit their body. The platform also allows them to find clothes that are suitable for their body type and order these clothes online. Zugara’s augmented reality platform can be used on PCs, tablets, smart phones, and even a TV or kiosk connected to a Microsoft Kinect, making it one of the most widely available augmented reality dressing rooms available.
Consumers expected to respond well to augmented reality dressing room
Backed by the new patent, Zugara is expected to continue pushing its augmented reality platform into the retail industry. Consumers have certainly shown their interest in augmented reality, with many eager to get their hands on new applications that make use of the technology. With the ability to make use of an augmented reality dressing room from wherever they are, consumers are expected to respond well to Zugara’s efforts.
