The online retail giant now has a complete new online storefront that is meant exclusively for wearables.
Amazon, the massive online marketplace, has just announced that it has launched a wearable technology store that has been created specifically to cater to people who want to shop for wearables.
Customers can now head to this single spot in order to shop for, compare, and purchase this tech.
Customers can now use this online and mobile commerce store in order to purchase wearable technology devices and gadgets from all of the leading brands, from Jawbone to Samsung, as well as GoPro. Furthermore, it also includes some of the most promising new brands, including Narrative, Basis, Bionym, and Misfit. The new store takes into account the very new and emerging nature of this sector as a whole, and also features a “Learning Center”.
Amazon is clearly hoping to become a prime source of wearable technology for consumers.
The store’s “Learning Center” provides shoppers with detailed buying guides, product videos, and other forms of information that allow consumers to discover what they need to know before they buy their wearables such as the smartwatches, cameras, and fitness trackers that are hot at the moment. The guides also help to spotlight the benefits of these mobile devices in order to be able to encourage those that are on the fence to make a purchase.
Amazon’s director of Wireless and Mobile Electronics, John Nameth, announced that this tech “is an exciting category with rapid innovation and our customers are increasingly coming to Amazon to shop and learn about these devices. We’re thrilled to bring our customers a store with the largest selection and great prices that helps eliminate the guesswork when deciding which wearable devices best fit their needs.”
Wearable technology devices have, until now, maintained a position as a relatively niche category. Moreover, as Google Glass has built quite a stigma about wearables as a whole, other manufacturers and retailers are doing all they can to help to enhance adoption by improving the overall impression that this category holds among consumers. This step by Amazon will certainly help to make it appear to be more of a part of the mainstream.
