QR billboards boosting business!

QR Code Billboard Helps Business

Implementing QR codes into advertising is paying off for Leslie Robinson, owner of Mane Image, Indiana. With the impact of new technology on marketing, Leslie was determined to put it to use for her business.

Last year, Leslie launched an overall of her current billboard campaign, soliciting the help of marketing firm Point Imaging. Grappling with the problem of creating a billboard that was visually compelling while providing vital information on the business,  the team decided to include a giant QR code with the billboard image. The initiative created powerful buzz for her business.

Almost immediately, Leslie was fielding calls in regard to the billboard and the mammoth code adorning it. Many calls led to further business. Within a month, the incoming business was enough to pay for the entire campaign. The event was enough to draw the attention of the local newspaper.

“I feel that, eventually, QR codes will be a part of our daily lives when it comes to advertising. Being the first in this area to take the leap with interactive print was what created the buzz,” says Marco Perez, director of marketing for Point Imaging.

The new wave of advertising is revitalizing print media. A recent Nielson study suggest that by December 2011, more than half the cell phones in the U.S. will have smart technology. With the capability and breadth of access for interactive marketing, more companies are opting to use QR codes. Retailers are including them in catalogs and print ads in magazines. QR codes can even be found on cereal boxes.

With QR gaining momentum and recognition, the frontier of marketing seems to be rife with innovation.
