Update makes Galaxy S II compatible with Isis

T-Mobile has issued an update to the Galaxy S II that makes the mobile device the first ever that is ready for the Isis payment platform. T-Mobile is one of the three companies invested in the Isis initiative, along with AT&T and Verizon Wireless. Isis aims to be the world’s most expansive and comprehensive mobile commerce system. Though it has not yet been launched, Isis has already garnered the support of most major financial institutions and is poised to beat out competitors in the mobile commerce industry.

New update may pave the way for the release of Isis in the near future

The Galaxy S II is now the first and only mobile device that is ready for use with Isis. The mobile device is equipped with NFC technology, which has become a cornerstone of mobile commerce. The technology enables the phone to interact with other devices that make use of NFC as well as access digital content that is embedded in NFC tags. The update made to the Galaxy S II is not extensive and it is unclear exactly what the update brought to the phone. The fact that Isis has not yet been officially released suggests that the update has made preparation for the release of the platform in the future.

Isis relies heavily on NFC technology

Like other mobile commerce systems, Isis is heavily reliant on NFC technology. Google is expected to be a serious competitor with Isis and already has a head start on the platform, having released its Google Wallet last year. Though Google Wallet’s launch was marred with security faults, the technology company has managed to solve some of these problems and make the platform more attractive to consumers. It is unclear whether Isis will face the same problems Google did when the platform is officially launched.

Security concerns prevail throughout m-commerce industry

Security concerns have proved troublesome for the mobile commerce industry. Consumers are concerned that their financial information may be put at risk if they use mobile payment services. Isis has recently launched a series of videos providing consumers with information concerning the platform and the security features included therein.
