Annual student sculpture event at Washington University has a new mobile twist

QR code art   Washington University and University City’s 26th annual Student Sculpture Project began on April 1, with an event at Centennial Commons, after which point the various art pieces will remain available for public viewing until September. The pieces on display were selected from among those submitted by the Washington University Sam Fox School of Design and Visual Arts sculpture students. The District Department of Transportation’s (DDOT) Urban Forestry Administration (UFA) is currently piloting a project that allows residents of Washington DC to use their smartphones to scan QR codes in order to adopt a tree. DDOT has already planted more than 3,900 trees throughout the city, each of which features a QR code that can be scanned with a smartphone.
