Survey shows that consumers enjoy shopping online more than they do in physical stores
Dyn, an Internet performance management company, has released the results of its latest survey concerning e-commerce. The report shows that the majority of consumers in India believe that the online shopping experience is more enjoyable than their in-store experiences. Consumers seem to favor e-commerce due to its convenient nature, and many retailers are making efforts to bolster their presence online in order to engage consumers in a more effective manner.
Mobile commerce is driving the growth of e-commerce in India
Mobile commerce has become the driving factor in e-commerce in India, according to Dyn and a recent study released by PwC India. Many consumers are using their mobile devices to shop online. Smartphones and tablets allow people to purchase products online no matter where they are, and this practice has become quite popular among those that commute to and from work. India is currently rivaling China in terms of mobile commerce growth and prominence.
Majority of consumers believe that online shopping is a better experience
According to the survey from Dyn, 52% of consumers in India see purchasing products online is better than shopping in physical stores. The majority of consumers prefer to do their online shopping from a computer, however, as only 3% of those surveyed claimed to enjoy the mobile shopping experience over conventional e-commerce. As many as 89% of consumers noted that they would shop online this year, a higher percentage than those that opted to shop online in 2014.
India may become one of the world’s leading e-commerce markets in the near future
Mobile commerce is becoming a strong force in India, where smartphone penetration is gaining momentum. As more people gain access to mobile devices, they are becoming more likely to use these devices to shop online. The expansion of the mobile Internet is also aiding in the growth of e-commerce. As Internet connections become more reliable, people are using their devices to shop for products. In the coming years, India is expected to become one of the world’s leading e-commerce markets, perhaps dwarfing China.
