The said institution is among the first ones to adopt and utilize the technology for incoming students and those currently taking courses. With most of the students owning smart phones, it is a very effective means of dispersing information and campaign drives.

 University applicants checking out their handbook for course outline and class schedules would be able to scan QR codes through their smart phone for additional multimedia content, such as student testimonials and video tour of the facilities of the university. The president of the University of Guelph even appears on a video directed from a QR code placed on acknowledgment packages for those successful applicants

 Current students have used the QR codes in programs, conferences and functions as a means of providing information prior to the event and giving further details for future references afterwards. They even incorporate the QR codes on nametags so that other people can scan, with permission, the contact details for them to easily store it.

  Even if the technology is not that widespread yet, many are taking notice of the benefits and advantages of the QR technology as it caters to their need of massive information drive need especially during enrollment and admissions period. And with the technology widely available to the current generation who is adept to smart phones, then it will be a win-win situation for both sides.
