Logical Choice Technologies, developers of educational tools, have announced the release of a new product that will serve as supplemental reading curriculum for teachers. Called Letters Alive 2.0, the program makes use of augmented reality to make reading a more engaging experience for students. The program is designed for young students starting their education in literacy. These students may respond well to the program as its use of augmented reality makes learning more akin to a game.

Letters Alive uses 3D and augmented reality technologies to project interactive images into a classroom. The program renders animals which are accompanied by letters and words. The program is designed for phonics-based teaching and focuses primarily on pronunciation and similar concepts. The program will also help students with grammar as they will be instructed on proper uses of punctuation and sentence construction.

Augmented reality has been gaining popularity in the education sector in recent years. Technology is constantly vying for the attention of students and usually wins out over more archaic forms of engagement. Using augmented reality, educators can engage students on a level they are growing more accustomed to which, in turn, may encourage students to participate more in their own education.

Letters Alive works on most personal computers and uses a webcam to initiate the augmented reality experience.

More information regarding the program, including an installation guide, can be found via the Logical Choice website.
