yStats.com, a market research company based in Hamburg, has released its latest report, which look into the present of North American B2C E-Commerce, and speculates on its future.

The title of the report is “North American B2C E-Commerce Report 2012”. Though it is focused primarily on North American data as a whole, it also examines trends that are specific to both the Canadian and U.S. markets. It zooms in on revenue figures, trends, leading product categories by popularity, and market shares, as well as online shoppers, internet users, and overall competition.

The yStats.com report has indicated that the North American B2C E-Commerce global revenue share will be decreasing within the span of time between 2010 and 2013. Last year, over 10 percent of all worldwide internet users were located in North America, while Asia maintained a solid first place, well ahead of the numbers from Europe.

However, what the report indicated was significant about North America was that the penetration rate of the internet was the greatest, and that B2C E-Commerce there is continuing to be strong in the United States.

The report suggested that this year will be one of growth for purchases in the U.S. as a result of mobile and social commerce, in addition to the group shopping trend. It clearly indicated that online retailers were also the most common filers of patent claims last year as a result of the revenue growth they were experiencing.

Within B2C E-Commerce in 2011, the product category that grew the fastest was “Digital Content and Subscriptions”.
