Will it be a bumpy road for m-commerce?

 M-Commerce

Even though mobile technology is advancing rapidly, and Smartphone productions and sales are way up; there is something that isn’t quite right. While mobile commerce is booming, a recent study says it is leaving most users frustrated and disappointed with the whole process.

The statistics show that mobile device use is growing at incredible speeds. The world wants to be mobile, and consumers are demanding to be provided with tools that allow them to do it. It’s more about the data, than the phone; people use their cell phones for actual calls, only about 70 percent of the time. The iPhone is less, at 45 percent; the rest is data usage.

Mobile marketing is skyrocketing trying to cash in on this whirlwind of mobile users. But a new survey shows that people are having so much trouble completing transactions, getting incorrect information, or just getting logged on to their accounts, they are likely to not be a repeat customer. Only around 16 percent of customers can say their mobile transaction went well.

Part of the reason has been blamed on the numerous operating platforms that are being used. Some specialists say it would be beneficial if mobile devices would adopt one single, usable platform. Another issue is that mobile carriers are getting saturated with customers and the amounts of data they’re using seem to overwhelm the transfer process.

Surveys show that most mobile device users are playing games, checking news and weather, social networking and listening to music. However, banking and finance use is at 43 percent, productivity use (work) is at 32 percent, and shopping and retail is at 33 percent. Imagine what those numbers could be, if users could have a smooth, trouble free transaction experience?
