One of the US’ largest drugstore chains is transforming its customers’ shopping experience.

Walgreens has partnered with Zebra Technologies to bring Zebra mobile computers to its workers and customers to both enhance customer experience and improve worker productivity. The goal is to bridge the gap between the digital and physical store experience.

Store associates equipped with the latest technology improve the overall shopping experience.

Zebra’s 11th annual Global Shopper Study revealed that 55% of surveyed shoppers and 74% of retail store associates believe that store associates who are equipped with the most up-to-date technology enhance the overall shopping experience.

Walgreens will be using assisted selling and inventory management applications that run on Zebra mobile computers and tablets to increase productivity and improve the customer experience while connecting its associates and customers across the nation, according to a recent Zebra Technologies press release.

“Every customer has a unique need when shopping, so each experience needs to be personalized for it to be successful,” said Steve Turner, Chief Information Officer and Senior Vice President, Walgreens, in the press release.

“Zebra’s mobile solutions make it easy and frictionless for our team members to complete store management tasks and assist shoppers, so that we can focus on delivering the best possible experience for customers every time.”

Zebra mobile computers provide Walgreens’ employees with the information they need at their fingertips.

Walgreens’ team members are equipped with Zebra’s Android based TC51 mobile computer and ET50 tablet. With the Zebra enterprise-class handheld mobile computers and tablets, it makes it easier for the company’s employees to check programs, look up product information, or even set up an order for home or direct-to-store with a few clicks. In addition to being quick and convenient, it frees up the employee’s time to assist more customers.

“Consumer expectations are rapidly changing, and retailers need to evolve to meet the increase in on-demand needs,” said Jeff Schmitz, Senior Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Zebra Technologies.
