Users of Twitter mobile can now click on one of their stream tweets in order to buy an item through the new Payvment mobile shopping service.

Sellers at Payvment have already been generating thousands of tweets about their products each day, so the service has decided to broaden its ecommerce platform, which currently resides exclusively at Facebook, to include Twitter, as well. The purpose of this decision is to make it more quick and easy for the increasing number of Twitter users to find, share and buy products using their mobile devices.

According to CEO Christian Taylor, from the Palo Alto, California-based Payvment, the use of social searches and commerce is moving away from the more traditional PC website search/browse model, and is heading “to a targeted social referral model where the best product for the shopper is recommended to them – often as a post on Twitter or Facebook.”

He explained that this change in angle is removing the shortfalls of mobile shopping – primarily, the smaller size of the screen – as it minimizes the amount of browsing that is necessary in order to locate the product that the mobile device users want to buy.

The outcome of this, says Taylor, is that Payvment and other companies are seeing a favorable boost in the amount of mobile shopping, which explains why they wish to expand the optimized mobile shopping experience beyond Facebook to Twitter.

It also shows why they are making significant investments into their new technology called Taste Graph, which underlines their recommendations by using the shopping and social click data of shoppers to provide them with access to the best products for them.
