The four G’s of today’s market place

Mobile Marketing Today

Marketing has had to evolve over time to reach their target audience on a level they could relate to. There was the 60’s counterculture, the baby boomers, generation X and now generation y, also known as the millennial generation. Advertising had to evolve with each new generation of consumer. But the millennial generation requires retailers to diversify their approach and keep up with consumers on a virtual, social and mobile level.

In the old days, marketing stayed within a pretty standard mold. They may have changed things up a little to reach newer customers, but it was basic. Today’s big shoppers, the millennial generation, make retailers work a little harder to get their attention, and business.

A recent study shows that the millennial generation is doing the most frequent online shopping. They are a smart and informed consumer, who want and expect more than just a good discount now and then. The clothes they purchase have a function; they express their individuality and uniqueness.

The gen y, millennials are people who fall into the age group between 13 and 31 years old. The younger members of this generation are very tech savvy. They have been surfing the web and wading through pages stuffed with advertisements since they could read. It takes more than hype to make them stop, and look at your ads.

Go social, go mobile, go fast or go away. This is part of the new mantra that retailers have to keep in mind when reaching out to this group. They want you to get to the point, and they want it to mean something to them. They want to be updated on the newest fashion, trends and news. They also want you to appreciate them as customers.

Offering special reward programs and preferred customer discounts is one way to do this. Send them mobile notifications, and make sure your website is mobile friendly; no one likes to shop on a site with navigation and redirect issues.

Let them know you have the products that are as unique as they are and make it easy for them to get it.
