Tablet Commerce

The invention of the iPad and the popularity of it and other tablet computers has enticed online retailers to the point that they are now looking into the potential and restrictions offered by those mobile devices.

As merchants examine the way that the near future will appear when 50.7 million American adults are tablet users (according to estimates from Forrester Research), Alexander Interactive T-Commerce Report has been produced in order to provide an evaluation of the top online retailers and the quality of the user experience that they provide

The report offers a guide for best practices for UX design for tablets, and reviews the leading web retailers, outlining the findings which are based on the scrutiny of a number of different factors that help to determine the quality of a customer’s overall t-commerce experience. It examined elements such as adaptive layout, responsive design, minimal clutter, appropriate sizing of content, support for finger-swipe, as well as optimized functionality of forms and more.

Many experts in the mobile marketing industry believe that tablets will soon be playing a leading role in the mobile commerce world, when compared to their smartphone cousins, as their stronger capabilities and larger screen sizes offer a superior experience for browsing and shopping.

The report did note that although the majority of the merchants that were studied as a part of the research for the report did offer apps for iPhones and iPads, not a single one of them had a tablet site that was dedicated and optimized specifically for that device.
