Sionic Mobile has partnered with Gilbarco Veeder-Root to bring mobile payments to consumers with a ULink profile.
If all goes according to plan, Atlanta-based Sionic Mobile will roll out a no-app mobile payments system at participating gas stations. The leading provider of cloud-based connected commerce services has announced the integration of its secure zero-friction ULink service with Gilbarco Veeder-Root’s Passport Point-of-Sale (PoS) solution at fuel dispensers.
The integration will allow for fast and convenient payments at all PoS manufactured by Gilbarco Veeder-Root.
Gilbarco Veeder-Root is a respected supplier of fuel dispensers, forecourt merchandising, PoS systems, payments systems, and support services to fuel retailers.
The integration of ULink into the company’s Passport will allow for fast and convenient no-app mobile payments at all PoS manufactured by Gilbarco Veeder-Root. ULink, which is a universal linking service, connects mobile consumers and land-based merchants, using digital wallets and cutting-edge payment card security and payment processing via a Visa company called CyberSource. Through CyberSource, card payment authorizations are submitted to fuel retailers.
The way it will work, according to the recent Sionic Mobile news release, is that consumer will receive a message on their mobile device when they arrive at participating gas stations. They simply need to tap the message and select a pump to turn on. No plastic cards, key fobs, or mobile apps are needed to use the payments service.
Consumers who are not enrolled in the ULink service can easily join the fuel retailer’s loyalty program with a simple tap.
The goal of the no-app mobile payments system is to create a seamless fueling experience.
“Consumers crave fast, simple, secure forms of payment. Integrating Sionic Mobile’s ULink service into Passport eliminates steps in the payment process to create a seamless fueling experience,” Marketing Manager for Passport Partnerships at Gilbarco Veeder-Root, Matthew Packer, stated in the news release.
“Our products and solutions are designed to help people do business better. With Sionic Mobile, we’re excited to break down technological barriers to simplify and enhance the retail fueling process for all.”
Thrilled to have partnered with Gilbarco Veeder-Root, Ronald Herman, CEO and founder of Sionic Mobile, added that “Consumers can turn on the pump with a tap or two on their mobile device without having to download and use yet another app.”
It is hoped that the partnership will help empower fuel retailers to improve the customer experience at the pump and better their store’s bottom line by helping to drive more fuel sales and lower the risk of fraud.
Additionaly, the no-app mobile payments solution also stands to positively impact fuel retailers’ operations and marketing by boosting enrollment and participation in loyalty programs by eliminating the need for a mobile app, which also eliminates the costs associated with offering these apps.
