Coca-Cola is expanding their mobile marketing efforts in Germany by launching new can designs which feature QR codes. Two new designs are slated for release this month. One design is a drum set and the other is a set of headphones. These are part of the company’s new marketing campaign titled “Code Sound Up.” The company will be working with a number of popular bands in Germany to provide exclusive content for those that scan the codes.

There are two different QR codes available, corresponding with the designs attributing the cans. When scanned, the codes link to a mobile website where people can find an assortment of digital content. Each code takes consumers to a different website so they will have to buy, or scan, the other to get the full experience. Those scanning the codes will also be able to download exclusive music.

The new cans are noticeably smaller than the traditional ones. The new, diminutively sized cans seem to be targeting mobile consumers, as the company believes they are easier to hold. Overall, Coca-Cola hopes that the QR codes will prove engaging for consumers and help propagate brand loyalty.

Coca-Cola launched a pilot campaign last year for their other products which made use of the same can designs and QR codes. The results showed that the new cans fit well into a gap in the market that the company had been unable to fill in the past.
