Retailer giant gives a backstage pass to shoppers

Macy's Flagship Store in New York

Macy’s is without doubt the most popular department store known worldwide. As part of its new campaign it launched a new way for shoppers to connect with it through their mobile phones, giving their customers a special backstage pass to info not made available until now.

Macy’s new campaign coined, “Backstage Pass”, is the store’s way of bringing on the spot advice to shoppers concerning its latest tips, designs, fashion and products for spring. Making this move even smarter, Macy’s has selected two of the fastest methods of connecting with its clients. These are SMS and QR codes which are quite simple. If a client has a QR code reader on his phone then custom codes which are abundant around the store can be scanned.

Some of the designer name brands you can scan are: Tommy Hilfigger, Sean Combs, Martha Stewart, etc. These QR codes are linked to videos playing targeted information or special offers for that said product, which in turn creates an interactive shopping experience for customers.

Probably the best advantage of this launch is the absolute amount of energy and time that Macy’s is bestowing towards education. For those who do not know how to use such codes, they can access tutorial videos online from Macy’s website, Facebook page, or YouTube Channel.

Of course there are some hurdles in anything new. To spark consumers curiosity has been challenging but the giant retailer has faith it will catch on soon!
