Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport has announced that they will be using QR codes to perform a number of new tasks to make the traveler’s experience a faster, easier, and more convenient one.

They will use QR codes to find the official website for the airport, learn a flight’s status, find restaurants and other amenities within the terminal, complete satisfaction surveys for taxi service, identify problems in the airport’s restrooms, or even have the airport notify you of the location of your vehicle in the parking lot via email upon your return.

According to the public information officer for Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport, Julie Rodriguez, the QR codes will not replace the conventional methods of communicating with travelers, but it does provide an additional method that they can use if it is their preference.

Rodriguez explained that people frequently travel with a mobile device, and they are busy people with schedules to keep. They are often frequent travelers and use their tablet computers and smartphones to keep themselves organized and connected. She added that “We want to make sure that it’s convenient for them if they want to communicate with us or if they need to reach us.”

Visitors to the airport can use the QR codes with an app on their mobile devices to gain access to the various different services being offered by the airport so that they can take advantage of the various options available to them. The codes will be available throughout the airport, including on employee uniforms, with the instructions that say “scan me”.
