QR Codes Are Gaining Strength

A chartered surveyors company in the UK has begun using QR codes as part of its business efforts. Berry’s, a company whose practitioners regulate property professionals and surveys property in the United Kingdom, is using QR codes to distribute information on properties that are being sold throughout the nation.

“We are going to print QR codes on all our signboards,” says Emily Barber, business development practitioner with Berry’s. “We are hoping it will give prospective buyers the information they need much more quickly.”

The company has already had a favorable response to the codes. Clients have begun sharing the codes with their neighbors and on Facebook and Twitter. Berry’s has long used video blogging as one of its methods to engage consumers and showcase property, and with QR codes, the company is looking to continue its trend of digital promotion.

Scanning the code is much like clicking a link on a website. The code’s black and white pattern may be unfamiliar to most, but its ease of use is one of its winning characteristics. As more companies begin to use the barcode, the more familiar it will become.

Smart phone usage is expected to rise prolifically in 2011 and anyone looking to establish themselves in business should take note of mobile technology. QR codes are rapidly becoming a powerful tool for commercial and industrial businesses as well as government and non-profit organizations.
