After playing trendsetter “Carrie Bradshaw” for so many years, Sarah Jessica Parker is known for starting the latest fashions and is now being featured in a new app that is not only designed to promote her latest film, “I Don’t Know How She Does It,” but also offers users the opportunity to purchase styles associated with the actress.

The app, developed by Skyrockit – the maker of the hit Zippo lighter app – also allows users to view profiles of the cast members of this most recent Weinstein Company film, as well as view the movie’s trailer and check for local theatres playing the movie.

To purchase the looks worn by Sarah Jessica Parker’s character in the movie, the app lets its users join HauteLook where they can shop for the entire outfits.

Jon Vlassopulos, the CEO of Skyrockit, explained that there is a great deal more to the app than a basic promo for a movie. Instead, this app combines information about the film with m-commerce flash sale. It is the hope of Vlassopulos that this will be only the first of many of this type of partnership.

He went on to say that app developers are all trying to come up with ways to turn media content into an income. Movie marketers spend a tremendous amount of money to reach the same individuals as those selling other products. This latest app was developed by asking “Isn’t there a way to create a sustainable business around mobile movie promotion, pre-, post- and during the campaign?”
