National Breast Cancer Foundation offers new Beyond the Shock app for women with breast cancer

In September, the National Breast Cancer Foundation officially unveiled their new iPhone app called Breast Cancer: Beyond the Shock.

This app provides smartphone users with videos regarding diagnoses and treatment options for breast cancer. It also offers a community section, which lets users post questions that they have, and view the questions of others. It is meant to be a comprehensive guide offered online to help provide greater awareness and education about breast cancer.

Beyond the Shock provides women with a breast cancer diagnosis and their loved ones with a resource that will provide them with a better comprehension of the disease, as well as a tool with which doctors can provide information.

This guide app was developed as a collaborative effort between the National Breast Cancer Foundation, Inc., and the best medical doctors, researchers, and experts around the globe. It used cutting edge technology and the global medical community’s resources in order to form an accessible platform for an education about breast cancer diagnosis.

It is forecasted by the National Breast Cancer Foundation that every year there are about 200,000 women diagnosed with breast cancer and 1,700 men who receive the diagnosis. Furthermore, every year, over 40,000 women and 450 men die from this illness.

The National Breast Cancer Foundation is using this app as a part of its broader effort to increase breast cancer awareness, which is important because the earlier the disease is detected, the better the chances of survival.
