Mysterious QR Code Goes Up For Auction

QR Code Plaque Being Auctioned on Ebay

A mysterious plaque has been put up for auction on eBay. The plaque was made by the Norwegian band SHINING to commemorate their nomination in the 39th annual Spellemann awards, the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammy’s. The plaque features a QR code which, when scanned, links to the band’s latest album “Blackjazz.” The winner of the auction will also be the first owner of the band’s upcoming DVD, which is a showcases live performances by the band.

There have only ever been three other items adorned with QR codes to be featured on eBay. The first was a novel published on a T-shirt and available for download by scanning the code. The second was a QR code calendar and the third was a series of customized business cards and stickers.

This one-of-a-kind item will be sold for the same as the band’s exact expenses in manufacturing it.

“We hope that the person to buy this item will take very good care of it,” says band member Jorgen Munkeby. The band had originally intended to keep the piece as their own, but instead opted to give their fans a chance to own it.

Only a small amount of the content to be offered through the code is available during the duration of the auction. Once the code is shipped to the winner, they will have full access to everything linked to the code. The auction ends March 27th.
