The top global trade association for the mobile industry, the Mobile Marketing Association (MMA) has announced the start of its Mexican council, which is the newest among twenty new locations around the world.

The MMA Mexico is a reflection of the region’s importance within the industry and its marketing.

It also shows that the MMA has recognized that industry guidance and support is needed for mobile marketing to be successful in that country. This newest council has now officially been opened and its founding supporters and members – Banamex and Terra – have been recognized. Additional support at the MMA Latin American also includes Televisa, Clarus, Coca-Cola, Mobext, Google, One Mexico, CIE, Naraya, Ogilvy, Telefonica, Unilever, and Microsoft. They all helped with the formation of the Local Committees and the Local Council in the country.

According to the MMA Latin America managing director, Marcio Chaer, “With the opening of operations in Mexico, we are following through on our 2012 plan to build councils throughout the region, including Argentina, Brazil, Mexico and Colombia, where the mobile market is presenting extraordinarily strong growth.”

Chaer went on to say that the rapid Latin American development of mobile marketing and the industry as a whole will only intensify with the MMA’s impact on operations within the region’s countries.

The MMA’s CEO, Greg Stuart pointed out that MMA Mexico’s launch will give members the chance to take advantage of the opportunities presented by the combination of the local knowledge and the global leadership of the MMA, in order to generate an even more successful, productive, and powerful Mexican mobile marketing industry.

He stated that by forming the 20 new Local Councils around the world also indicate that marketers are globally seeing and adopting smartphones and tablets as a powerful opportunity, and that they are seeking to work with the MMA to help to make this channel a vital element of the overall mix.

The Mobile Marketing Association was created in order to lead the smartphone and tablet marketing growth around the world, and to encourage the development and adoption of its related technologies.
