Smartphone using guests at the hotel’s locations can skip the front desk for many features they want to use.
Though the mobile app from the Marriott is currently considered to be quite cutting edge in the hotel industry at the moment, many in the travel environment now believe that this type of technology will become the standard within the next few years.
The smartphone application makes it possible to skip the front desk in order to check-in at the hotel.
Though the Marriott already had a mobile app for both Android and iOS, it has now redesigned those offerings and has broadened its smartphone based check-ins, its “room ready” alerts, and it has even expanded its capabilities for checking out. This option has been made available at about 4,000 of its properties around the world. Previously, these options had been available at about 1,200 of its hotels around the globe.
Now, the mobile app has been rolled out to provide these features to its complete range of hotel brands.
This includes the Marriott Hotels, as well as JW Marriott, Autograph collection, Renaissance Hotels, AC Hotels by Marriott, and the Marriott Executive Apartments. Members of the Marriott Rewards program are also able to obtain a notification one day before they arrive at their destination in order to let them know that they are able to use their smartphones in order to check-in, and that they can then receive an alert the next day to let them know exactly when they can make their way to their room because it is finished being prepared for them.
