According to WANTED Analytics, in June 2011, corporate staffing agencies and recruiters posted over 2,300 new job ads online for marketing managers that have skills with social media, which represents a growth of 71 percent over the demand from the same time in 2010.

The greatest demand for workers with these skills came from New York and the surrounding area, where there were more than 300 newly posted jobs online. A close second was the San Francisco area, which advertised 220 new jobs online for people with those skills. Though the majority of American metropolitan areas increased in their demand for workers with these abilities, L.A. led the way in growth with an increase of 80 percent over last year.
