Domino’s Pizza has announced that they will be making the ordering process much easier for mobile device owners through their new iPad app that allows their customers to order and customize their favorite pizzas.

The app allows U.S. and U.K. customers make their order no matter where they are, as long as they have their iPad device handy. It was developed by Somo.

According to the Domino’s Pizza multimedia manager in Bedford, England, Nick Dutch, as the orders being made online were beginning to represent an increasing percentage of overall sales, “mobile ordering methods such as the apps were the obvious next step.”

He explained that their iPhone app was originally launched last year and has led to approximately £10 million in pizza sales within eight months. They then released their app for Android devices in May 2011.

Somo, the app developer, is an independent mobile marketing agency in Europe, which specializes in the design, strategy, and creation of mobile apps and websites, as well as complete mobile advertising campaign development and purchasing, and campaign management and optimization.

The new app designed for the iPad is only the latest in the Domino’s pizza mobile app offerings. Customers are able to make their own standard or customized order by providing the app with their ZIP code. From there, the app automatically provides the location of the nearest Domino’s restaurant.

This allows customers to peruse a menu in a carousel style design so that they can choose the pizza, drink, side, and dessert they would like to order. Customers can also order customized pizzas by choosing the base and size, then selecting the toppings and sauces they’d like.
