Augmented Reality Marketing Service Expands

 Total Immersion AR Application

Stepping into a virtual world is so yesterday. We have moved on to bigger things; like bringing an augmented world into our realm. Augmented Reality (AR) is the new buzz word. Augmented Reality is a term used for an indirect or live view of the physical (real world) environment, with sensory graphics or sound input added to the view. It’s worth over 5 million in funding to one company.

Total Immersion is a company founded in France over ten years ago, and they just received over 5 million dollars in funds to continue developing one of their new product platforms and help expand their operations. The company offers AR solutions to a wide range of markets; making them one of very few companies, who do AR for more than mobile devices.

Augmented Reality applications can help with directions and astronomy, as well as serve as useful business tools. From architecture, to training mechanics and healthcare professionals; this technology has all ready proved its worth. Don’t worry, it won’t all be business.

Several applications will be developed; some will allow a person to try on clothes to see how they look, without physically going into the store. Other applications will be used with webcams, and allow the user to overlay images onto what the camera is actually viewing.

This technology is still somewhat new, but the development of it is progressing rapidly. In the United States, it will most likely be seen on mobile devices first, starting with maps and GPS applications, and then move on to the games, social networks and entertainment type applications.
