Massachusetts-based Nellymoser, a mobile technology and marketing firm, has announced that it quadrupled its growth in 2011 through the use of its mobile marketing campaign that included QR codes.

The number of action code and QR code based mobile marketing campaigns increased from fewer than 100 two years ago, to over 400 last year. Furthermore, Nellymoser held the lead within its sector as 3 out of every 5 of the top 50 magazines (based on circulation) included its marketing campaigns in 2011.

Some of the titles of these magazines include InStyle, Sports Illustrated, Traditional Home, Lucky Magazine, Entertainment Weekly, and House Beautiful. They included QR code ads for many of the top advertising agencies, retailers, and brands in the country.

Among the campaigns by Nellymoser in 2011 that use mobile marketing in magazines were:

• Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition – the advertising campaign included the use of several high-quality mobile videos, social media sharing using Twitter and Facebook, and voting for models.

• Shape Magazine (30th anniversary edition) – this issue broke records for the most entries made by way of a QR code when there were approximately 400,000 mobile entries made into over 30 different sweepstakes.

• Lucky Shopper Companion App – this mobile application was launched by Lucky Magazine and became the first mobile companion shopping app in the industry for both Android- and iPhone-based devices. It gave Lucky Magazine readers the ability to use their mobile devices to obtain more information about the products that were featured within the pages of the publication.
