Winn-Dixie, the grocery store chain, has unveiled their intentions to use QR codes as a part of a special Valentine’s Day offer that will help customers to create a special meal for the day, without a high cost or the need to make reservations.

Customers who scan the QR code will be automatically redirected to a special mobile site that will provide them with step-by-step video instructions to create a tasty meal with a surf and turf theme. Moreover, each of the items in the menu’s recipes are available in the “What’s for Dinner?” displays in the grocery locations.

According to Winn-Dixie spokesperson, Eric Barnes, in Jacksonville, Florida, this is not the first time that the grocery chain has used QR codes, and in their experience, being able to provide customers with the opportunity to use their smartphones gives the company a significant opportunity to solidify the relationship with those customers. This is accomplished through the demonstration of a complete line of meal solutions, knowledgeable team members, and in-store services.

Barnes explained that “Our main goal is to provide guests the opportunity to access information quickly and easily – both inside our stores and remotely at home.” He went on to say that using QR code technology lets them provide customers with a superior experience that extends beyond the actual store location and into the home.

He said that this additional flexibility was just what they needed in order to be able to communicate the necessary information to shoppers about everything they need to make a romantic Valentine’s Day dinner and take the best care of the flowers they give as gifts.
