Toys ‘R’ Us holiday marketing campaign includes QR codes

Mobile Website for Toys R Us
Toys ‘R’ Us has announced that it will begin its QR code marketing for the holidays well ahead of the start of the main rush of the shopping season, in order to help drive sales over the next two months.

The QR codes currently being released are being printed within the catalog called “The Great Big Toys ‘R’ Us Book,” and will allow consumers to obtain a larger amount of information about the products they are considering within the catalog, before they actually make their purchase. Toys ‘R’ Us stated that the catalog will become available throughout the first week of November.

That said, the company intends to focus on nostalgia just as much as QR codes and other technology-based marketing efforts, this year. The toy store has also provided information regarding its overall 2011 holiday marketing campaign and it will also include television commercials that will highlight the specialization of the company as a toy retailer. As a part of this effort, it will be running two of its most loved ads from previous years to celebrate the company heritage.

According to chief marketing officer Greg Ahearn from Toys ‘R’ Us, U.S., the company believes that this holiday ad campaign will help to underline their current solid position as an industry leader with generations of children who are already familiar with the brand after having grown up with it.

He added that “It also evokes the joy and excitement of the wonderful new toys that have made their way to our stores just in time to fulfill the dreams and wishes of kids everywhere.”
