The Phoenix Suns mobile app will offer mobile-only ticketing at its Talking Stick Resort Arena.

Beginning in the 2019/20 season in October, NBA mobile payments are coming to Arizona via the Phoenix Suns mobile app. In a partnership with Ticketmaster, the Arizona-based National Basket Ball Association (NBA) team will offer NFC ticketing after making the move to mobile-only ticketing at the team’s Talking Stick Resort Arena.

The SafeTix service will be used to support the mobile ticketing.

Ticketmaster’s Presence platform and its recently rolled out SafeTix service are being used by the Phoenix Suns to support NFC ticketing and mobile payments on both iOS and Android devices. The platform also supports encrypted barcodes. These codes automatically refresh on a mobile phone every few seconds.

“Ticketmaster has been a tremendous partner and we’re excited to continue working with the industry leader to utilize their best-in-class technology to help make it more convenient for fans to buy, sell and share tickets,” said Phoenix Suns President and CEO Jason Rowley, in a press release.

“The transition exclusively to mobile ticketing ensures that we are providing the safest, most secure and fan-friendly ticket experience, while also expediting access into the arena, so fans can get into their seats and in front of the action.”

The goal is to create a digital NBA mobile payments experience that is seamless.

The “fan-friendly” mobile ticketing option will be complemented by an upcoming launch of the Mobile Wallet, to create a seamless digital experience. The Mobile Wallet will give fans the ability to pay for parking, concessions, and merchandise using a variety of digital payment options, including PayPal and Venmo, directly through their smartphone.

Additionally, the complementary Mobile Wallet will allow users to take advantage of new in-venue enhancements. Among these include suite delivery of concessions and merchandise as well as express pickup. Moreover, the added functionality will reportedly provide opportunities to integrate other arena partners, allowing these partners to extend exclusive special offers.
