Testing QR codes for proper linkage

Color Card Administrator, a provider of digital and print business card solutions, has announced that they will be taking part in a new, nationwide test. The test will determine the accuracy of mobile QR reading applications available to iPhone, Android, Nokia and Blackberry smart phones and mobile devices. While the applications can scan codes with little difficulty, there have been issues regarding the codes ability to track the scans from certain applications, leading to gaps in marketing data.

An applications inability to sync with codes is likely due to developers rushing their product, hoping to take advantage of the enormous popularity QR codes are experiencing.

The test will begin on May 1st and developers of QR reading applications are free to participate. Each application will be put through a series of rigorous readability tests that will analyze link performance to QR codes attributed with a wide array of digital content.

“As more businesses leverage QR codes to engage customers, our goal is to raise the bar for the entire industry,” says Gayle Hawks, president of Color Card Administrator. Hawks believes that the test will confront developers with an opportunity to fix any errors in their applications. She hopes that they will also be encouraged to fine tune their process as to avoid such errors in the future.

Mobile marketing is a relatively new industry, but it is showing rapid growth. While problems during periods of growth are inevitable, QR codes rely heavily on the numerous applications that people use to scan them. Without properly working scanners, QR codes are nothing more than funny little patterns.
