Apple technology newsThe predictions about the next Apple smartphone release are already circulating heavily.

The rumor mill is spinning yet again about the latest developments by Apple, and the technology news predictions that are being made about a potential release of the iPhone 5S, which is forecasted to be in August 2013.

Naturally, nothing official has been announced from the company, but many sources are adding bits to the assembled knowledge.

It is now being suggested from technology news reports in China, that the next iPhone will be called the 5S and that it will be a less expensive version of the previous release of the device. Claims are stating that the more entry level device will be made out of polycarbonate, instead of the more traditional aluminum or glass that has been used.

At the same time, many people doubt this technology news, saying the company isn’t aiming to be cheaper.

There are technology news reports out of Japan that are stating that there are actually two different iPhone models currently in development. Those suggest that the first will be an iPhone 5 successor that has a 4.5 inch screen, and the second will be a cheaper polycarbonate body smartphone. Those reports didn’t specifically name an August launch, but instead said that the next full iPhone release is likely to be in 2014, with the cheaper version hitting the store shelves at some point before that.

At the same time, technology news reports from Taiwan have suggested that Kirk Yang, a Barclays analyst, has announced that there is both an iPhone 5S and a cheaper version of the smartphone in the works at Apple. That claim said that the first device should be expected out this year in either August or September. Yang has also said that both of those devices will have two models, with the second ones being created specifically for China Mobile.

The Japanese rumor technology news blog, MacRumours, said that “The report claims that Apple is still weighing production volume for the new phones, working to estimate how much the lower-cost iPhone will cut into iPhone 5S sales and still gauging appropriate volumes for an expansion to China Mobile. Regardless, Apple does expect total iPhone shipments to be higher than last year’s levels.”

As Apple is well known for being secretive about its technology news, only time will be able to reveal what devices will actually be released and when.
