The team at Canadian based Best Health magazine has announced that a Microsoft Tag will be featured on the cover of the March/April issue. Readers are being encouraged to scan the code with their smart phones for exclusive online content. The issue features an interview with eTalk anchor Tanya Kim and those that scan the code will be able to get a behind-the-scenes look at the interview.
Scanning the Tag will bring readers to the magazines mobile site where they can see videos of the photo-shoot. “We were thrilled when she approached us,” says Bonnie Munday, Editor-in-Chief of Best Health magazine. “She demonstrated Pilates moves in an exclusive workout. We were so impressed that we wanted to share the experience with our readers.”
QR codes have been used in magazines before, typically for advertising, but Best Health is the first Canadian magazine to feature a Microsoft Tag on their cover. Readers that do not have smart phones or have not yet picked up the latest issue can still see the video via the magazine’s website.
The magazine prides itself on delivering real answers for the issues women face today. In using the Tags, Best Health is attempting to engage their readership in a more direct way.
