A new survey from AT&T Mobility Solutions, the mobile branch of AT&T Inc., shows that stores may be getting more QR codes after the holiday season has come to an end. The company polled 500 of its business clients in order to gain insight on how popular QR codes are becoming amongst businesses. Of those surveyed, 88% had plans to adopt aggressive mobile marketing strategies next year. Most of these plans involved QR codes in some way. AT&T believes that the codes will become more common place next year.
Consumer engagement is the main reason these companies are looking to incorporate QR codes into their marketing efforts. As soon as a code is scanned, the consumer has been engaged. This means that the codes immediately show their value even if they are only scanned once. The codes also enable companies to bridge the gap between their online and offline presence.
According to the survey, the companies looking to adopt QR codes believe that the codes will spur innovation in the realm of mobile marketing in the future. Mobile marketing is still a relatively young industry with a lot of room for growth. As companies continue to push the boundaries of what QR codes are capable of, they will discover new marketing strategies that make use of new mobile technologies. The only major obstacle left to tackle is getting consumers comfortable with using QR codes.
