Real estate could considerably change through the use of these easy to scan barcodes.

The smartphone friendly two dimensional barcodes known as QR codes are making their way into a rapidly growing number of spaces, and they have been establishing quite a presence for themselves in the area of real estate.

These barcodes are providing home sellers an easy way to provide buyers with more information.

Though the amount of information that can be posted on a “for sale” sign is very limited, real estate agents have been doing their best to help buyers to be able to use them to obtain more information through tools such as telephone numbers and URLs. However, until now, these have required potential buyers to have to record the contact information so that they would be able to use them at a later time, unless they intend to call the real estate agent while standing on the sidewalk in front of the property. QR codes have changed that.

QR codes are being added to signs so that interested buyers can use their smartphones to scan them – using free apps – and instantly pull up the information about that specific property. From that point, they can decide whether or not they would like to learn more – such as by scheduling a visit. Many of the mobile sites that are accessed through the scans have additional options such as “click to call” buttons, so that a site visit can be arranged right away.

By scanning the QR codes, the listing information can be accessed right away, eliminating the risk that the home buyer will forget the contact information between the time that the sign was seen and the time in which he or she sits down at a computer. Moreover, it also means that he or she will see the details before forgetting about the property altogether.

The information available through the QR codes is similar to what would be found on any listing, such as the price, property description, number of bedrooms and bathrooms, and photos. Then, the contact information can be used to get in touch with the real estate agent, or the call can be made right away.
