Skanz, a social networking platform based on QR codes and other mobile technologies, has introduced a new way for music artists to connect with their fans. The music industry has been long been inundated with energy that borders on the fanatic. Today, young artists are the subject of adoration from an equally young audience who craze constant contact with their favorite singer. Skanz is looking to make this connection a little simpler by offering to put QR codes on bracelets that can be given to fans.

The first to use Skanz’s new service is none other than Matt Hunter, a 13-year old Latin recording artist. Hunter performed at the recent Samsung Experience concert in New York City, where he, along with all concert attendees, wore the coded bracelets. When scanned, the codes resolved to Hunter’s various social media presences where fans could find videos, pictures and other content that was exclusive to them.

Skanz believes that the service will help young artists build a social following by offering fans something that others do not. QR codes are becoming popular for this purpose as they allow smart phone users to seamlessly connect with digital content that can be difficult to promote through conventional methods. Skanz expects more people, particularly recording artists, to adopt QR codes as they become more common and hopes to be involved with more artists in the future.
