Sallie Mae – a financial services organization with a specialty in education – has announced that its banking customers will now be able to take advantage of some mobile features that will assist them in improving their money management skills.
This new mobile feature from Sallie Mae will give account holders a way to transfer money, pay bills, or view account transactions and balances while they’re on the go, using an iPhone app. Furthermore, a new SMS feature will allow them to send and receive text messages relating to money transfers, view their transaction history, or receive other kinds of customized alerts.
Spokesperson for Sallie Mae, Debby Hohler, from Reston Virginia, said that while the organization is already offering their customers a “top savings interest rate,” they also wished to make banking easier for their customers so that they could use the services whenever and wherever they wanted.
She added that keeping at the head of mobile technology is also increasingly important as they are now “serving more and more college students with our No Fee Student Checking Accounts offered on select college campuses.”
All of these new features are available with no additional charge with all forms of Sallie Mae bank accounts such as Money Market, CDs, High-Yield Savings, and the No-Fee Student Checking accounts, which are available to college students at certain campuses.
A CashEdge survey indicated that over 32 percent of its participants said that they would use their mobile device for banking if it was offered by their financial institution.
