PayPal has just announced that it will be opening a brand new pop-up store in New York City to put the spotlight on new mobile digital payment services that it intends to unveil in the coming months.

The new PayPal shop will be located in Manhattan’s Tribeca neighborhood, will open on the first of November and should stay in place for nearly 4 months. The purpose is to give merchants the opportunity to experience this emerging technology for point-of-sale, in a real world, real time environment,

The façade for the building will also include QR code integration so that pedestrians passing the PayPal store will be able to use their smartphones to scan the codes and gain more information about the efforts being made by the company.

In September, PayPal revealed a number of new technologies for payments through this commerce platform. The company’s president, Scott Thompson, referred to this series as “a one-stop shop for merchants to engage their customers directly during every part of the shopping lifecycle.”

Thomas hasn’t released any specific details about the technology, but did explain that PayPal intends to create digital commerce solutions that will function across all mobile devices, including smartphones, but also tablets and others. Moreover, the company will also be providing funding options such as credit, cash, and installments.

Other than point-of-sale and mobile payment options, PayPal will also be releasing mobile ad campaigns that are geo-targeted, real-time inventory data, barcode scanning tools, and its own concept for a virtual wallet.
