Make it, chip it and ship it – New NFC phones coming faster than we think!

NFC Phones Delivery Notice

A recent report shows that mobile payment technology may be here sooner than we think. Radio Frequency ID (RFID) chips enabling the Near Field Communications (NFC), will be in most Smartphone’s coming out this year. The survey shows around 23 million phones being NFC enabled by the end of this year.  In three years that number is predicted to be around 300 million.

Mobile devices hit a growth point where they didn’t grow anymore. They exploded. Now over 70 percent of the entire world population has a mobile phone. In the U.S., it’s 90 percent of people who have mobile phones (or 9 out of 10). Companies like Google are activating Android devices at a rate of over 160 thousand a day worldwide.

Big name investors are funding companies that are working on mobile payment platforms, technology and NFC technology as well. Everyone knows that Google, Microsoft and Blackberry are all in on the mobile technology platform; especially the sector of mobile commerce and mobile payments.

How about IBM and American Express? They have both released (or working on release) of safe, secure payment servers for the mobile payment platforms. Part of the problem has

been a way to exchange data to verify accounts. It works like when you use your bank card; the merchant site connects to another site to verify your data, if it’s all good, your transaction goes through.

These are the technologies and systems being completed now. All that is left is to get merchants to start using the system, and make it worthwhile for the average person to start using their phone to make payments. Researchers have estimated that in the U.S. alone, in five years mobile commerce will account for 47 billion dollars. This equals over 40 percent of the global share.

It may start out a little slow, but when people start catching on, we can only imagine it will be like mobile phone usage; it will just explode one day.  Places like Europe, China, Japan, and even India are all ready using mobile to make certain payments and buy merchandise.
