Amtrak has announced its introduction of a new iPhone app that will allow its passengers to more easily check the train schedules, plan their trips, buy train tickets, and change the reservations that they’ve already made.
The purpose of the app is to provide faster and more convenient ways for travelers to plan their trips and make the necessary arrangements. They can now download the Amtrak app for free from the Apple App store in order to benefit from the many features connected to the Amtrak trains which operate in connection with four commuter rail agencies and 15 different states.
By using the Amtrak mobile app, passengers are now able to purchase tickets (either one-way or round-trip) which can be collected from an agent, printed at a designated Quik-Trak machine, or mailed out via traditional post.
Customers will also be able to check on the most up to date departure and arrival information for their own travel itinerary. They can take advantage of the app to locate the station that is closest to them, and to find amenities, addresses, directions, and hours of operation.
In fact, the app can also let travelers access their accounts with Amtrak.com so that they can view all of the trips that they’ve already booked and change the reservations that they’ve made so that they can alter travel dates, switch trains, or even upgrade their seats.
The status of their train can be viewed through the app, as can any changes in anticipated departure times.
Moreover, there are social features to the app that allow travelers to share their travel details with their friends and family over Facebook and Twitter.
