Internet Matrix, Inc., an Internet marketing company based in San Diego, California, has announced that it will be honoring innovators in the technology industry by building an interactive monument. The project, called iMonument, will be located at the company’s office in Sorrento Valley. The thirteen electrical boxes that surround the office will be the foundation of the monument and each box will feature a QR code as well as a likeness of the people that have made a profound impact on the industry.

Each box is being painted by one of the company’s employees, who are also local artists. The QR codes on the boxes are to be painted by hand and, when scanned with a smart phone, will direct consumers to a mobile website where they can find more information on the innovator featured on the box. Internet Matrix chose to use QR codes due to their popularity and their impact on the marketing industry. Indeed, the codes have been a major force in making the mobile marketing industry a powerful force with consumers.

The iMonument project was started in early December. As of now, the project is on schedule and is expected to be completed in January 2012. Initially, the project had been scheduled for later completion, but the number of employees working on the project has hastened the unveiling significantly. The company believes that the iMonument will be a welcome addition to the local area.
