At the Interop IT conference and expo, Hewlett-Packard Co. launched a new event mobile engagement strategy.
HP demonstrated their new HP Connect event app while showing their quick-response barcodes as well as the customer-linking text keywords that brought users of mobile devices to everything from apps to white papers.
According to the HP head of worldwide corporate mobile marketing, Chad Summervill, an entirely new mobile environment has been developed by HP for businesses. He explained that “This is a new field. We’re innovating as we go, and what we’re doing is putting us on the path to the next generation of mobile-infused events.”
HP Connect will function in a number of ways at events, providing details of presentations, information about booths, connection to social networks, and a scanner of QR codes that permits the mobile device user to capture the image of a type of bar code with the camera feature of their device. All of the files received through the app can be either viewed using the mobile device itself, or they can be transferred to a laptop or desktop computer where they can be viewed later on.
Summervill went on to clarify that HP is responding to the need of businesses to more quickly and efficiently share information with their customers.
Before Interop IT, the app was already being promoted by HP on their official website and via email, but the booth reps had badges featuring text keywords and QR codes that would allow customers to gain a link to the app. Though Summervill did not provide the actual number of successful downloads by attendees, he did explain that the technique was used to minimize any challenge with obtaining the app.
